IRON’S BEGINNING

Innovation drives our corporate culture just as it does our industry. IRON’s founders and leaders began their careers in Chicago’s international trading exchanges. As sweeping technological changes were shifting the investment landscape, our co-founders Howard Nixon and Aaron Izenstark recognized the need to add value to Simple Direct Exposure (BETA) Investing. Through committing themselves to building a company that would harness the power of technology without compromising the pure investment know-how and integrity that provide clients true value, IRON was born. Since 1994, IRON has delivered cutting edge solutions to fulfill that unique vision.

A HISTORY OF INNOVATION

1994

IRON is born.  Out of the belief that every investor should have transparency in what they are investing in and when an investment is made the investor should be able to see real value, IRON Financial was launched.

**IRON begins managing assets in a “strategic income” style, an alternative fixed income style that is actively managed and designed to be non-correlated to “beta” investing.

1996 – 1997

As IRON gains a reputation of consistency as the fixed income “fiduciary”, a growing number of business owner inquiries opens the door to a new “retirement plan” focus at IRON.

1998

IRON assets under management cross $100 Million.

2000 – 2002

IRON formally launches its “Corporate Retirement” services division, offering “risk based” portfolios to plan participants, and third party administration services to retirement plan sponsors.

2006

As assets grow in our “strategic income style”, IRON launches the “IRON Strategic Income Fund (IFUNX)”. A 1940 Act fixed income “alternative” fund.

2007

Seeing a storm brewing in the financial services industry, IRON reinvests significant capital into its infrastructure in order to create “The Engine”.  A major expansion of its data repository and quantitative research team in order to take advantage of new opportunities in individual asset classes and diversified portfolios.

2009

IRON assets under management hit $1 Billion. The IRON Strategic Income Fund (IFUNX) reaches its 3 year milestone.  IRON expands its “risk based” portfolio solutions to include “Select Portfolios”, containing the best of our ETF and mutual fund selections.

2011

IRON successfully completes the independent CEFEX Fiduciary Assessment. The assessment certified IRON’s Discretionary Investment and ERISA 3(38) Investment Advisory Services for ERISA Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Plans.

Nationwide Financial selects IRON Financial as their platform level ERISA 3(38) Fiduciary.

2012

IRON expands its offering of asset management strategies to include REITS, Convertible Bonds, Equity Option premium income and Corporate Bond separately managed accounts.

2013

IRON assets under management surpass $2 Billion.

2014

IRON celebrates its 20 year anniversary.

ERISA 3(38) plans under management exceed 1,000.

ERISA 3(38) AUM crosses $1 billion.

2015

2016

The IRON Strategic Income Fund (IFUNX) reaches its 10 year milestone in the “Alternative” Fixed Income Space.

ERISA 3(38) plans under management exceed 1,500.

ERISA 3(38) AUM crosses $2 billion.

2017

With over $3 Billion in assets under management and 23 years of existence, IRON continues to be driven by the same “client first” ethos set forth on day one.
